L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray Review

I am not receiving any money in exchange for this review. This is just a good product, period!

For years I’ve avoided hairspray. It’s sticky, leaves a funky crust and flakes off in tiny white specks. Using it almost ensures you’ll have to wash your hair the next day to remove the yucky flakes and residue. I’d much rather just deal with a few flyaways.

I’d tried several hairsprays over the years and they were all the same. True to my nature, I even tried making my own. I thought if I can make my own hair gel, surely I could tackle hairspray as well. I tried a couple recipes. They were an epic fail.

A few weeks ago, I was chatting with Tricia, one of my Lilla Rose Customers, while she visited my booth at a local Holiday Bazaar. She has has beautiful, soft, curly hair that always looks so healthy. She was chatting and mentioned she uses sulfate-free shampoo. Since I do too, I decided to ask her about the other products she uses. Much to my surprise, she mentioned hairspray. I told Tricia I didn’t like hairspray and why, but she said the stuff she uses is different. It leaves no residue, no flakes and it’s brushable.

I decided to give it a try. I mean it would be nice not to have to deal with flyaways when I had a special occasion or just needed to look especially nice. I had to email Tricia a few days after the bazaar, because I  forgot the name. She was sweet enough to get back to me right away. And I am so glad she did. This stuff is amazing!

So what is this amazing stuff?

As far as hairsprays go, I love it.

It’s not sticky at all and there is no residue. (If you follow directions and hold the can of hairspray 12 inches away from your head when applying) And best of all, just like the can says, it “Disappears at the stroke a brush”. Which means, no more washing to remove it from my hair. And no white flakes.

I have no idea how L’Oreal got rid of hairspray’s sticky yuckiness. I’m sure there is much more to it, but it has to have something to do with the ultra fine mist that sprays out of the can.

The hold Elnett Satin Hairspray provides, is more than enough to control my frizzy flyaways, even in high humidity.

It has a light pleasant scent. At least to me. Scent is highly subjective, so you’d just have to try it and see.

Elnett claims to contain a UV filter as well. However, I’m not willing to stake the health of my hair on it. I will still be wearing hats and other head coverings in the summer when I am gardening or swimming at home. Give me some science and I might change my mind. It would be nice to think it offers some protection when I am out and about in public. Because even though I like to protect my hair from the sun, I look horrible in hats.

I still can’t claim to be a hairspray lover. It’s full of chemicals and it just feels unnatural. Even if it’s light and brushable. But I am so pleased Tricia introduced me to L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray. It’s much better than all of the others I have tried. And while I won’t be using it every day, let’s be honest, sometimes only a mist of hairspray will do.
