About Me

Welcome to Busy Mama 911! I am so Glad You Stopped By!

about me

My Name is Amanda Smith

I am a busy working mama

I like to make things myself, sometimes just to say that I did it

I enjoy cooking and gardening

I only enjoy reading non-fiction books

I am cheap frugal

I am slightly addicted to Pinterest

I am Saved by Grace

I am a work in progress

I have been employed as a full time third shift 911 Dispatcher for over 16 years. When I’m not working or caring for my family, I moonlight (or is that daylight?) as an Independent Lilla Rose Consultant and author of this blog.

I love spending time with my children, stepchildren and step grandchildren! A fabulous Saturday night off work, to me, means a dinner at home with them. They are a constant source of Joy and a Blessing I do not deserve!

Why did I Start Blogging and What is Busy Mama 911 About?

I love blogs! I was following blogs before following blogs was cool! I would always read them and think, I can do that. How fun would that be. And it took me years, but I finally got the courage to do it!

Busy Mama 911’s mission is to be a source of encouragement and practical tips and tricks for busy Mama’s everywhere.

Most of Busy Mama 911 is about food, family and faith from the perspective of a busy working mom. I love to share posts about how to make things yourself too.

In the summer months you’ll find a few posts about our family love of gardening.

Being a 911 dispatcher, I like to blog about family safety topics on occasion. An I like to write about long hair care sometimes as well.

Please note, if you want to learn how to cook gourmet meals and create flawless crafts that rival Martha Stewart’s, this is probably not the blog for you. I’m just an everyday mom trying to keep it all together, just like most other moms I know.

Meet the Rest of the Family

My husband, Marvin and I live in Indiana. He is a retired police officer. We’ve been married almost 13 years. He’s old school does not want his picture posted here.

We have a big, beautiful, blended family of the his, mine and ours variety.Between us, there are 5 children and 6 grandchildren. Being a blended family, we are a little out of the ordinary and a tiny bit complicated too. One complicating factor, is that my husband is 21 years older than me. I have a step-son older than me as well. But we make it work and love each other, which is what really matters.

Zachary is ours. He’s the baby of the family. Zachary is a good student who just entered Middle School. He LOVES video games! Recently, he became a puppeteer with our Church’s Puppet Ministry.

Adam and Sarah

Adam is mine. He’s a young adult trying to figure out what he wants to do in this big old world. He’s currently serving our county as a member of the Army National Guard. Adam is not married yet, but this Mama has a feeling his girlfriend of 4 years, Sarah, is the one!

Mickie, Matt and Alexis (Lexi)

Mickie is my step-daughter. She is a stay at home Mama and author of the brand new blog Simply Blessed Mama. She and her husband Matt have one cute, curly headed daughter, Alexis.

Chris is my redheaded step-child. He’s a Policeman, a very involved father and an avid fisherman. He and his wife Lisa have 3 Beautiful Children: Madison, Nolan and Isabel.

Jason, Sheri, Austin and Savannah

Jason is the oldest step-son. He affectionately refers to me as his wicked step-mother. At least I think it is affectionately? Jason is a hardworking Semi Mechanic with a passion for his family and his motorcycle. He and his wife Sherri have two rambunctious children, Savannah and Austin.

Pete and Abby

And last, but not least our Fur-babies! Pete is a spoiled Maltipoo and Abby is a Weimaraner with a bad case of separation anxiety.

Poor little Petey boy!                      Abby dogs Picture coming soon!
